VTT example
WEBVTT 00:00:00.000 --> 00:00:02.400 Har word ka apna moment.
Timed text. SRT and VTT downloads are included on paid plans.
Choose how your subtitles travel
Burned-in subtitles are part of the video image and stay visible wherever that MP4 plays. SRT and VTT are text files containing subtitle cues and timestamps. A compatible player can display them as a separate track. Styling from an animated video caption does not carry over to a plain subtitle file.
How it works
- 1
Transcribe the audio
Select a video in the editor and choose its spoken language. Lumiox turns the audio into words with timing information.
- 2
Read and refine the cues
Correct the transcript, review where caption groups begin and end, and check that each phrase stays readable while the speaker moves on.
- 3
Choose MP4, SRT or VTT
Export an MP4 with visible captions. On a paid plan, download SRT or VTT for a compatible player, video editor or subtitle upload workflow.
MP4: keep the words visible
Choose a captioned MP4 when the text needs to be part of the picture. Your chosen font, colors and animation are rendered into the video, so viewers do not need to enable a subtitle track.
SRT: hand off the timed text
An SRT file contains numbered cues with start and end times. Use it when your destination accepts a separate subtitle file. The destination controls the final presentation of the text.
VTT: use a web subtitle track
WebVTT begins with a WEBVTT header and uses dot-separated milliseconds. It is useful for compatible web players. Confirm which format your destination accepts before downloading.
Find your language and your look
Explore Hindi captions, Telugu captions, Bengali captions, or browse all supported caption languages. Choose from animated caption templates and check current plans and export options before starting a longer project.
Questions before you start
What is the difference between captions and subtitles here?
Both use timed words from your video's speech. Lumiox can render them into an MP4 or export them as separate SRT and VTT files on paid plans. Check the text yourself if you need non-speech descriptions such as music or laughter.
Are SRT and VTT downloads free?
SRT and VTT downloads require a paid plan. The free plan lets you try caption generation and export a watermarked MP4 within its allowances.
Will the SRT file include my caption animations?
No. A plain subtitle file contains text and cue timing, not Lumiox's rendered caption animations. Export an MP4 to preserve your caption style.
Does generating subtitles translate my video?
Transcription writes down the spoken words; translation changes them into another language. Do not assume a generated subtitle file is a translation. Review the available language and script settings in the editor.
